Getting there: Access is relatively easy if your car has okay ground clearance. I got there in a Subaru Forester without difficulty. Drive up Forest Service road 25 to the intersection with 2565. There is some erosion to the road bed that might create a problem for a Prius. The two worst spots are near the intersection with road 25. Everything is clear past those two points. As of Summer 2026, vegetation is beginning to encroach on the road corridor but I avoided pinstripes. About a mile up, the road splits in three directions. Keep the summit to your right as you proceed. Take the middle road of the three way split. I parked right here:

46.22604, -121.98213

There are numerous old road grades and cat tracks working their way up the summit, but they are of little consequence as the underbrush is well spaced and easily pushed aside. Just follow the obvious road grade near my parking coordinates and work your way through the woods.

Activation Zone: No view and brushy. Plenty of trees to hang wires. Plenty of huckleberry bushes to entangle wires.

My phone occasionally showed a single bar of LTE but nothing actually pushed through. SMS might work but I didn't try. No Data coverage.

I heard APRS echos, but no messages got through on multiple tries with 5 watts and a half wave whip.

Spotting was accomplished with Sotamat.

It's a rather lonely summit that I combined with Badger Peak. Strawberry Benchmark would be another good pairing.
