Mount Walker is a nice drive-up or summit hike just off Highway 101 on the east side of the Olympic Peninsula. There is a good view of Puget Sound from the summit and thus it makes for a good spot to try your hand at VHF/UHF contacts.

From the center of the small town of Quilcene, WA head south on Highway 101 five miles to near milepost 300. There is a clear sign directing you to the four mile gravel road to the Mount Walker Viewpoint. The road is in great shape for any vehicle but recognize that it does get a fair amount of traffic and so take it easy on the curves as you may find someone going the other way on this narrow road.

A ways up the road there is trailhead parking for those that would choose to hike to the top. At the summit there is a privy and a viewpoint area, but also some picnic tables back closer to the parking lot. Those would make for a relaxing HF activation spot with trees for antennas if that's your way.
