Abert Rim is a 6-point drive-up summit in the Warner Mountains area of the Fremont-Winema National Forest. Your best access is from Lakeview, OR and environs. This summit is close to Light Peak and Drake Peak, recommended summits if in the area.
From Lakeview, proceed north on I-395 for 4.7 miles to Highway 140 East. Head east for 8 miles to NF 3615. At (42.22547, -120.23086), turn left and proceed for 14.7 miles. This road is paved all the way to mile 14.3, which is nice. This area is open range so watch for cows in the road. At (42.36067, -120.22806), turn left onto Abert Lookout Rd., aka 3615-377, for 2.7 miles to the summit area. For the last portion (1 mile or so), mid-clearance and all wheel drive are recommended. Or just park and walk if it looks sketchy.
The summit area is flat with some trees, suitable for any antenna. Be sure to go to the rim to see the valley views and south end of Lake Abert.
Good camping is available at the Mud Creek Campground on NF 3615 at (42.28335, -120.20868). You pass it on the way up. 2m will likely be ineffective for operators in this area.
