Here's an easy drive-up summit that you can do on the way to the coast. Any vehicle can make it on these well-graded roads.
From Portland, head west out Highway 26, about 0.8 miles before the rest area and 8.2 miles past the junction for Timber (near mp 30). Here you will take McGregor Road (good gravel) north about 0.8 miles and then go right (where the main road swings left) onto a good dirt road 1.0 miles to a small pullout that is about 400 feet from the summit. That pullout appears to be a high point of the road that is within the Activation Zone for the peak. And the road ends shortly thereafter. Activate AWAY from your vehicle here, or head up through the shrubs and young trees to the actual summit.
There's no 2m FM coverage to the valley or coast from here - you may catch someone going by on Highway 26 but otherwise qualifying this summit will likely require HF.
