The SOTA peak database has the name of this peak incorrect as "Cardwell Hills HP", it is actually a well known peak called "McCulloch Peak" in the McDonald State Forest and all signs leading there, plus the marker on top, uses that name.

A previous blog by ND7PA, http://www.pnwsota.org/blog/nd7pa/2015-april-11/evening-activation-mcculloch-peak, provides an excellent description of a route to the top, although there is now a single track hiking trail called "Play's Over Trail" that parallels FR-700 between roughly the junctions of FR-680 and FR-7040, which is a nice respite from the logging roads.  They are currently working on extended that new trail all the way to the top and could be ready next summer.
