Timbered Knoll (2-point summit) is one of a cluster of summits south of Oakridge, OR in the Willamette National Forest. This summit is a short bushwhack/hike off of well maintained road, but route selection to the top will likely affect your enjoyment. It can be combined with Holland Point and 4460 pretty easily in a single day.
From Highway 58 in Oakridge (43.76028, -122.53237), take FR 5850 south for 8.3 miles. At the junction with FR 2102 (43.70386, -122.55216), stay right on FR 5850 for 3.6 miles to the junction with Holland Springs Road, aka FR 1746 (43.66721, -122.57359). Stay left on FR 5850 and continue another 2.3 miles to the base of Timbered Knoll.
Now, in retrospect, I would have parked near here (43.64701, -122.56471) and found a route through the trees to the top, which would have been more open. Instead, I made the mistake of continuing further south to the SW facing ridge and was lured in by a disused cat track at (43.63941, -122.56963). Big mistake. Lots of thick brush to whack. No good. When I came down, I descended the NW and it was a lot more open.
The summit area is semi open, suitable for any antenna deployment. Don't expect much 2m in this area. I had marginal cell services, enough to get a couple spots out.
