This is a very nice hike (1.0 Miles, 690 ft.)

Drive west from Augusta towards Nilan Reservoir and Benchmark.  Continue for 14-miles, turning right (Northerly) on the Willow Creek road towards Gibson Reservoir.  Continue another 2.5 miles and pull off into an obvious flatter spot in the pasture to the right (east side of road).  This is USFS land – the opposite (west) side of the road (with the ponds) is private.  Hike up (easterly) to the ridge crest and turn right (south-east) on the ridge trail.  Follow the trail until it becomes vague near the summit.  Continue on to the summit.

This is a very pleasant hike in one of the more beautiful parts of Montana.  The roads are all excellent, all-weather gravel roads.  The summit is open and grassy with some small trees and offers nice views of Haystack Butte, the plains, and the Rocky Mountain Front.
