0.2 Miles, +150 feet
This is an easy, pleasant summit. The road is suitable for most vehicles and the hike up is through an open meadow/clearcut.
Following is a description:
From Hwy-2 & the McGinnis Meadows Rd just east of the USFS Pleasant Valley Campground:
1. Drive 2.4 miles SE on the paved McGinnis Meadows Road. Turn right (west) on the well marked unpaved FS-6761.
2. Drive 1.5 miles westerly on FS-6761. FS-6761 is well maintained. Continue straight at the major junction. Turn right (north) on FS-6764.
3. Drive up FS-6764 miles as it winds counterclockwise up around the east, north and northwest side of the mountain. FS-6764 is less well maintained but should be passable for most vehicles. There is a wide spot after about 1.9 miles that has suitable parking for several vehicles. The road becomes narrower and rougher after this – there is no value in proceeding further.
4. Hike up the ridge to the summit.
The summit is broad and open, with a large fire ring and several large trees. There are good views in all directions.
