Bates Butte, OR | April 2023

Summit:
W7O/CM-101

South of Bend is a little 2-pointer named Bates Butte. I had mapped out a route from the south side. Frome Bend take South Century Drive and make a left on Forest Lane, a paved forest road. Take a right at 43.80887, -121.50379 and make a short drive up a forest road. There was still a bit of snow when I was there, so 4 wheel drive recommended, but probably doable on 2 wheel drive when dry. I parked at 43.80536, -121.50776. From here look for a decent worn trail heading north up the butte.

Olivia Mountain, WA | Aug 22

Summit:
W7W/ST-012

This 6-pointer is among the line of peaks which form the eastern border of the Stevens County SOTA region. It's easily accessed from Flowery Trail road off of highway 211 as are several other summits. Take FR-9518 for several miles and then FR-9517 for the final ascent. Park at 48.35545,-117.50346, on a side road off of FR-9517. Although the trail may not be apparent, several lanes of logging have left multiple paths to the summit with light or no bushwhacking required. The summit is somewhat exposed but is ringed by trees.

Aldrich Mtn and 6401, OR | Aug 2020

Summit:
W7O/NE-054

Aldrich Mountain in Grant County has two fairly accessible summits that make a nice pair to activate as part of the same day trip.  These include Aldrich Mountain (W7O/NE-054) and 6401 (W7O/NE-205).  Both are 6-point and located in the far western part of the Malheur National Forest, with access from Hwy 26 and Forest Routes 21 (Field Creek Rd) and 2150.  Route 21 is paved while 2150 is a well-maintained gravel road.  Plan for a 15 mile drive on 2150.  There are campgrounds in the area.
