North Lookout Mountain WA - March 2021

Summit:
W7W/WH-168

March 20, 2021

Myself, Chris (KI7JOM) and Clint (KJ7LLS) activated this summit in a heavy snowfall. We parked at the snow line on Coal Crk Rd at about 2400'. From here we snowshoed on forest roads and cross country all day in cold and wet conditions. Slow and challenging day.

9 miles, 2700' gain over 8 hours.

Devils Peak 2021 WV S2S Party Snowshoe

Summit:
W7O/CN-033

DIRECTIONS NOTE: Google Maps may try to send you on "Rd 20" off of HWY 26. Unfortunately the bridge that crosses Still Creek is CLOSED. Take Still Creek Rd, off of HWY 26.

For the 2021 Willamette Valley S2S party I wanted something that would get my heart rate up and I finally settled on Devil's Peak (W7O/CN-033). After a detour in Rhodedendron (see above), I parked at the trailhead and started up. That's what this trail does. It goes up.

Peak 6001 (Jean Lake Peak), Oregon | February 2020

Summit:
W7O/CN-078

I was looking for a reasonably tough snowshoe that could be accomplished in a day, and with few bonus point opportunities, and only so many sno parks, I kept coming back to my favorite mountains from last year. I decided to give this a try, and all things considered it went very well.

Tumalo Mountain, OR

Summit:
W7O/CM-011

Taylor and I returned to Tumalo Mountain this weekend to score a rare 6 pointer in winter, with a justified bonus. Tumalo Mountain is a strenuous, yet technically easy ascent. The trail up to the summit leaves from the Dutchman Flats Sno-Park, just north of the entrance to the Mt Bachelor ski area on Cascade Lakes Highway. Because this is a popular winter recreation area, the parking area is packed with people looking to snow-machine, ski, and snowshoe to the top.
